Class Supplies:

SIZE UK6/US8 knitting needles

Try and buy size U.S. 8 needles...No longer than 10" long.
If you cannot get your hands on a size 8, then just buy a size 7 or 9.

Worsted weight yarn (might have the number 4 on the yarn label)
Light colored yarn works best while learning. Light colored yarn makes it easy with your stitches.
You can get everything you need at a local Michael's store. Go online and print yourseld a half-off coupon!

You will be learning to cast on, cast off, knit and purl during this class. This is plenty to get you on your way on your journey into the wonderful land of knitting!

She has adorable and cozy altered clothing creations for you. She creates them from vintage fabrics, linens, and also makes handbags too.

Merry Christmas everyone! Thank you to all of you who made it to the Barn this weekend. We had a great time with you! Hot cider, hot cocoa, and yummy treats from our vendors were enjoyed by all. Our vendors outdid themselves with some really inventive and fun displays.

And our New Urban Couture clothing store is re-stocked with some fun and flirty clothing for you!

New vendor Angela of Tragic Queen Vintage put together a super cute display!

ANd she is also carrying many of the ever popular CAKE items!

We also have a new vendor outside with some really amazing garden antiques and salvage items.

This past weekend we had our First Ever Wicked Ball, and it was a BLAST!! The Barn was decked out in Fall and Halloween goods throughout. Our vendors did a great job in pulling it all together. This photo is from Mary Kay's booth. She works so hard to have an amazing looking booth.

Vendor Spotlight: Vintage Bliss

It's just a couple of days away from our next Street Faire and Wicked Ball this friday so we thought we would spotlight another vendor that is coming from afar to share her wares with you: Vintage Bliss. Tricia of Vintage Bliss is just back from Antiques Week in Roundtop,TX and will be bringing some fun vintage goodies for you to shop from! She is here at the Barn every few months from Arizona and always brings this cute little pink and white vintage trailer called the Bliss Lounge.

We've heard she is bringing a great mix of her handmade Halloween goods just in time for your parties and decorating needs!

These rusty old bread tins will be a great addition to your Holiday decor, just picture some hay tossed in the tins, gourds, pumpkins, and berries. Your tabletop is set! And then, Christmas!? You can go wild with these! I know she is bringing several of these, we've even heard she's got a chicken coop in that van of hers!

She even got to hang out with the Junk Gypsies while in Texas a few weeks ago. Hopefully, she got to bring back some goods from them too! Make sure you come for this weekend's Street Faire and Wicked Ball to see what all of our vendors have hand picked just for you!

Urban Couture is open for business!! We've got it almost perfect in here, a few more fixtures and fabulous clothes, voila! Our dressing rooms are up so you can try on everything because it's all fabulous!

We also have clothing made by a local artist-Deb Hodge of Breathing Beside Us, you'll love her soft ruffles and flowy fabrics.

In true Urban Barn fashion, we used several display racks we already had, these were from a hospital, there were old rolling dividers, perfect for us!

Did we mention we have shoes too? Fun, strappy sandals perfect for our weather!

We're open tomorrow from 10-5 ,and weekly from tuesday- saturday 10-5. Hope to see you soon!

Our Street faire Flea Market this past weekend was a great success! We want to thank all the new guests that came out to see what we are all about from the Romantic Homes and Romantic Country articles. You made the flea market great. And a huge thank you to our returning friends that make every Street Faire fun.

We had lots of new vendors that made the flea market better than ever! Sabrina and her handmade creations are just the funnest!

We also had Black Rooster Cottage, her vintage and creative talents were a huge hit!

Rose from The Tarnished Crown always has the prettiest displays, who doesn't love a glass jar with hydrangeas?? We do!

Another new vendor Dragonfly Dreams has some gorgeous handmade and altered clothing.

And this is Tori, she was a new vendor and now a new dealer inside the Barn. She has an eclectic mix of vintage,beachy,chippy,shabby, and all things gorgeous! Take a look...

We were overjoyed to find out that we were named in this issue right along side Rose Bowl flea market and Round Top Antiques Fair! Wow! Have you been wanting to silkscreen your own cards, t-shirts, pillows, fabrics, or bags? Screenprinting is one of the most versatile, low-tech, fun and easy printing methods available. Screenprinting doesn't have to be complicated, and you don't need a big studio or fancy supplies to get started. This beginner-level DIY workshop covers several methods that you can easily use at home to get printing, and will send you home with a screen and supplies to keep you going. Expect to get inky!

Workshop Cost: $150

Cost includes instruction, materials, an instruction/notebook, a stretched screen, squeegee, water-based ink and ink knife to take home with you. And lunch too!

We had our preview of Urban Couture this weekend at the Street Faire and it was fabulous! While the front store is being renovated, we thought we would give you all a little tease of what is coming to Urban Barn. We picked some soft fabrics, ruffles, lace, leather, and some gorgeous prints to give you the Urban Couture look.

Each week we will be putting out more Urban Couture for you. We chose flirty tops, summertime beach trip dresses, and the most sought after layering pieces!

This amazing flowy dress is probably our favorite of all! This is perfect for any summetime party or wedding, knock their socks off!

Our customers were loving all the new clothing choices they had! Their biggest problem was to buy something for the home or a new couture piece! What's a girl to do?!

Beeswax Canvas Collage Class is Back!!

As requested by many of you here at the Urban Barn, Tricia will be here on the 20th & 21st of May for the Street Faire and she will be hosting her Beeswax Canvas Collage Class on the 21st from 3-5pm. We've had lots of requests for this class to come back to the Barn and this is your chance!! The Paypal button will be up on the blog in the next day or two, or you can call the Barn and sign up over the phone. We will have a class sample here by the end of the week for you to see in person.
This class is a great introduction to working with beeswax. No materials needed to bring, just the basics-pair of scissors, glue sticks, and an exacto knife. Tricia is also going to bring several images for you to choose from-several crowns, Eiffel Tower, bird cage, and a fleur de lis image. The canvas size will be 12x12. Anyone can do this class, no previous art skills are needed, everyone can make this! Class cost is $45. Sign up early, size is limited.

The best part about this class is that everyone's canvas turns out a little different from the others, no two are the same. You will learn a couple of fun and easy techniques to add to your altered art projects!

This project was recently featured in the latest issue of Somerset Home, this is a great oppurtunity to actually get to learn from one of the artists in your favorite magazines! We have One Amazing Year down in the history books at Urban Barn and can't thank you all enough for supporting our endeavour here in Escondido. We've had our growing pains and growing gains. Wouldn't change a minute of it. Our Anniversary Celebration was a huge success thanks to YOU, our amazing following of friends and customers. Urban Barn goes to CHA!

The Urban Barn made its' Styling and Staging debut at CHA this past weekend. We donated our services to Elena at Scrapbook Royalty for her Charity Wings booth at the event. We had a nice big booth to play with. We brought up some of our favorite lounging pieces from our inventory of vintage dreaminess!

The totally creative mixed media artist- Suzi Blu created the Urban Barn signs you see in the pictures. It was a great setup for CHA attendees to come and learn more about Elena's Charity and have some fun at the show. It was a booth fit for a queen!

The Urban Barn is starting off 2011 with a BANG!! Our first class session of the year with Terri and Julie was a HUGE success and the addition of Sirens and Saints, all in one month. Christmas Tree Lighting Party

We had our Christmas Tree Lighting Party Friday night. It was great to see all of customers and vendors show up for an evening of amazing food and fun. We have an oversized lighted tree and wreath now on the roof of the building and you can see it from the freeway at night. It's so bright and pretty in the evening! We hope you can come by and see it too! Our food was catered by one of our many talented dealers. Her eye for food prep and display is unmatched.

Street Faire Deluxe!

The last Street Faire for the year at Urban Barn was the best one yet! We had a great selection of vendors inside and out. It was our busiest week so far. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and supported the Barn and all the vendors. You are very appreciated! We had lots of new merchandise like this amazing necklace( it sold right after we took this picture!), and the most unique collection of vintage finds.

TA Vintage Jewerly had an audience for awhile! She makes some gorgeous creations!

And check out this GORGEOUS Vintage GLAM Designer Cache' dress that Tara's daughter bought from Vintage Bliss of Arizona. It still had the original Cache' tag of $510 attached!! She is going to wear it to her prom and just WOW! everyone. She will be "Belle of the Ball"! She looks like she is going to the Academy Awards, now she just needs some vintage sparkly heels to complete her look! That is one of the best things to come from owning a business like this-you get to have all ages of people come here looking for something and they find it. They leave with a big smile and we are all happy.

These items are from one of our new Street Faire vendors, this completely plumbed and ready to use cabinet with sink sold right away too! She has some very unique finds!

Tomorrow we will have some great pics of our Christmas Tree Lighting Party and the meticulously catered food we had. Yummy! We hope the Holidays bring much Peace and Happiness to your lives as the Urban Barn has brought to all of us.

Yesterday was our BIG REVEAL!

Linda has added a Real Gypsy Roulette to the Urban Barn's box of surprises! This is the beginning of its transformation. We have been finding lots of true gypsy style fabrics & embellishments to bring this beauty back to life. We've got a deadline set and will keep you posted with pics of it's progress. You can come and see our beauty today as our Vendor Street Faire continues today.

It is something you have probably only seen in photos. It is the Grandest of Grand!! A sight to behold! We are unveiling the beginning of its' transformation.
